YOUR FAVOURITE COLOURS AND WHAT THEY MEAN

Everybody has a favourite colour, but not everybody knows what it stands for. Very often, we also find ourselves having a hard time deciding the right colour for a furniture at home or a gift for a friend. Here is a quick guide to a selection of colours to help you understand the meaning behind them.  

Blue

Blue is the colour that often symbolises confidence, sincerity and loyalty. It also boasts a positive effect on the mind and body, and is known for its tranquility. This colour is the number one favourite with most people.

Representing wealth and extravagance, purple is associated with royalty and nobility. Spirituality aside, purple leads one to a world of imagination, and is an escape from reality. By choosing this colour, you seek inspirations, creativity and calmness in your life.

Passion and fire come to mind when one mentions the colour red. It is an intense and stimulating colour that promotes energy, excitement and confidence. Interestingly, red is the most popular colour found on most flags of the world, and denotes good luck in Asia.

Pink

The universal colour of love, pink represents the sweeter side of the colour red. There is also a hint of tenderness to this hue (often seen in cotton candy, bubble gum, and babies), and represents our inner child or childhood memories.

Green

Green is a colour of life, nature, and energy. As one of the most relaxing colours, green aids our vision, and soothes us from anxiety and depression – a great healing power for those who love this hue.

Grey

Grey played an important role in art and fashion as early as the Renaissance and the Baroque period. As a neutral colour, it can be matched with a variety of colours, and thus is often associated with timelessness and seen as sleek and refined.
